Have yet to see Golden Compass, but have heard that while screenplay is a little weak, visuals and special effects are gorgeous. bfn, cat noir

Saw the film last night and thought it excellent. It is a young persons movie in term sof acting, but the special effects and story line I thought were good. I would go to see it as an adult (and without a child).
what a coincidence, I also saw that film last night - you never know we could have been sat near each other!
I agree it is essentially a kids movie - but I enjoyed it for what it was. Had a problem with the issue of polar bears and alcohol - not a good mix - but each to their own. Come on - thats about as enthusiastic as I get.
Happy to hear that the Golden Compass is beautiful.I'm not aware of the relevance of bears and alcohol? however I feel that "Bundy Rum" has done quite well with their exploitation of polar bears and their alcohol consumption. bfn cat noir
I saw this film while on holidays. Mister Tall thought it was extremely well-done and is hoping there will be another film in the series made. Mini-reviewer was totally entranced, and gave it her highest accolade as soon as the end credits rolled: "Can we buy it on DVD?" I thought it was luscious, and the special effects as good as for Narnia. Nicole Kidman is an excellent villain.
